That Was the Weekend that Was

Sunday morning saw our first frost, announcing winter 23/24 is just around the corner. For those new to the Club, you will now find there is usually a 1.5 - 2 degrees temperature drop the closer you get to the Club.  This is especially noticeable if you have to drive down the Star & Garter Hill - check the outside temperature in your car, at the top of the hill and then once again, when you drive through our archway!

This, however, didn’t deter a strong field for the final day of the Summer Sunday Roll-up, with the Order of Merit Trophy up for grabs. Three contenders at the top, Kara Catt, Mike Hanak, and David Bradley, obviously felt the pressure as all chocked this morning, meaning no change in the top of the table.

Many congratulations to Kara Catt on lifting the trophy. Mike Hanak came in second, on count back. Our thanks also go to Kara for arranging the roll-up and to James Drayton for organising the Order of Merit. Winter Sunday roll-up starts next week.

The Friday Roll-up still has a couple of weeks to run. Last Friday’s was won by Tim Hutchence with 41 points.

This puts him as joint leader with Charlie Browning, in the overall competition, both with 154 points. Andy Pow came second with 40 points and he is now in third place with 153. The chasing pack of 12 players, capable of overtaking the leaders, have these two final Fridays to produce the necessary scores.

That’s all folks!
