Match Play Stages

Dean Plant won 8 & 7 against Matt Greenfield, Pyecombe (+ 1.7 ) to move into the q-finals.

Lee Drew (pictured) defeated defending champion Sam Jarvis, Ifield, +1.2 finishing with a birdie 4 to send the match into extra holes and then birdied the first extra hole to progress.

Steve Graham lost his match against Drew Sykes ( + 3.5) 3 & 2 and was unable to utilise his experience having played in the last Amateur held at Ifield in 1982, 20 years before his opponent was born!!

Dean Plant lost his quarter-final against Jon Exon-Taylor 3 & 2 , the big win in the morning proved a big diss-advantage over his opponent as he had a 4hr delay between rounds due to play being suspended for lightening.

Lee Drew played Drew Sykes in the afternoon in a brilliant game that neither player deserved to lose. After an early exchange of holes, Lee played holes 6 to 12 in 6 under par with 1 eagle & 4 birdies, but only managed to win 3 holes.

The match was all square after 18 and required extra holes, which Drew Sykes won with a birdie 4 after Lee found a hazard off the tee.

Great effort by all the ESN players.

The Final was won by James Whyte , Nevil GC by 2 & 1 against Drew Sykes , Golf at Goodwood.
