Junior Team Victory!
The Junior's first win of the season!
Our junior team took their first victory of the season with a hard fought win over Hobson Juniors yesterday!

It was a terrific evening and the club spirit was a true credit to us. We have received some feedback from the Hobson Team JLO, Simon Miller, which we are very proud of, and would like to share with you all below.

The team was seen off by club captain Michael Cave with debutant Lee Reynoldson leading the line-up. Lee squared off to a very capable player and was beaten 3&2 after a very tight match. Mitchell Raine took his 3rd straight win after closing his match 3&2 on the 16th. Sam Dowson secured his first win of the season with a convincing 3&2 victory over his opponent. Fourth off the tee was Frank Stevenson who played a very tight match against a former under 10's world golf championship player. The match was taken by his opponent after a very strong back nine, 2up on the final hole.

Finally our player of the week was Max Hancock who won 6&5 after a tight game early on. Congrats to the team who took the victory 6-4, all the players have shown a real strong bond in the early part of the season despite being low on numbers. Rising star Riley Guy was in reserve last night and will make his debut for the team at home to Durham City in a few weeks’ time.

'As acting JLO for last nights game against Hobson, I’d just like to express my thanks for the excellent welcome provide to all from the Hobson Team.

From arriving, Keith was out around the putting green introducing himself and made us feel very welcome, and explained Lee would be out on the course as JLO for the match. Never have I seen this before by a hosting club manager, so many thanks to Keith.

Once match handicaps were sorted, our matches got underway, with flexibility offered in playing order to accommodate one of our players who was running late. Lee was around all the matches on the course and kindly offered to transport one of our spectators with our match as he was carrying an injury.

All of the boys played in the spirit of the game, with our players complementing their positive sportsmanship. A particular shout out to young Frank who had an epic match with my son Ben.

Back in the clubhouse, the catering was excellent, with the sandwiches and chips that the kids hadn’t consumed being offered to the JLO’s and parents. These were very welcome having travelled straight from work.'

All in all an excellent experience, with everyone involved being an absolute credit to Brancepeth Golf Club.

Many thanks and good luck for the season!
