Club Update

Clubhouse Heating

We are currently experiencing problems with our Biomass Boiler, which affects the hot water as well as the heating in the Club House. An engineer attended site on Tuesday afternoon and got it working but has since failed.

Most of the radiators in the clubhouse have been flushed and we hope to get this back up and running as soon as possible. We are also pricing up a new Biomass Boiler along with alternative heat solutions to solve the issues we are facing. We appreciate that this is a top priority for resolution and are working tirelessly to resolve this. We regret the inconvenience this is causing.

Internet

We placed an order for a Fibre Optic Lease Line in September 2021. This is to provide a dedicated line to our Golf Club.

This was required due to BT Openreach having no plans to roll out Fibre in the area. It has been a very frustrated project dealing with Open Reach and Cadent Gas. The surface wiring was completed in August 2022, but problems were encountered when completing the underground wiring on Castle Lane in January 2023 due to a blockage.

Traffic Management is required to clear the blockage and the work is booked in for 17/04/2023. Again, we recognize the frustration and inconvenience this matter is causing and the matter was escalated last year at the highest level within Openreach. However, with no alternative supplier, we are in their hands.

Tree Maintenance

You may have noticed this week we have been removing trees, the purpose is to improve light and airflow to greens and other key areas on the course. Further trees will be removed over the coming weeks. Look out for updates on social media.

Putting Green

Members may not remember or be aware the putting green was re-laid in April 2021. As it is still in its infant stage we have removed access over the winter period to give it a rest. The sward is not strong enough yet to withstand the amount of foot traffic during the winter but is becoming stronger every year. We hope to have the putting green back open by March 1st.

Junior and Ladies’ Academies

We are very proud to inform you over the past year we have gone from having 6 juniors to over 25, competing in a League with Olton, Ladbrook and Copt Heath we were unlucky to finish second only one point behind the winners. Huge thanks go out to Neil and Sheila for all their hard work and long may the success continue.

Starting our Ladies Academy this year has seen 6 Ladies join us and 3 convert into full members. Once again huge thanks to Neil and Elaine Partridge for all their hard work on this project.

If you are interested in more information on the two Academies please contact the office.
