It was a narrow 3-2 defeat away from home, but the squad showed heart in a battle that came down to the wire. Three of the five matches went all the way to the 18th hole.
Alistair Henderson & Jimmy Thomson: Put secured a brilliant and decisive 3&2 victory!
Patrick McGhie & David Heeps: Battled all the way to a grandstand finish on the 18th. Patrick’s birdie putt for the win missed by a midgie, securing a fantastic, hard-fought half match.
Alex Bathgate & Dougie Masterton: Went into the final hole 1-up in the final match of the day. Dougie faced a tricky putt across the slope to win the match for Harburn, but it just wasn't to be. A superb effort to secure another half match.
Lyndsay Steele & Michael Curran: All square going down the last, they were cruelly denied at the death by an absolute "out-of-this-world" up-and-down from their opponents to lose 1-down.
Billy Saunders & Brian Rooney: Faced arguably the strongest pairing, putting up a massive fight before bowing out 3&1.
While it’s easy to look back on this as "the one that got away," walking away with a win and two halves on away turf is a fantastic achievement. The margins were incredibly fine, and the golf on display was excellent.
We dust ourselves down and go again! Next week we are back on home turf as we welcome Deer Park to Harburn.
