Course Improvement
New Wildflower Area
To improve the quality of the 3rd green, the area between the green and the 4th tee was cleared of trees, shrubs and their stumps. Rotovating brought masses of bricks to the surface which had to be hand-picked out, a long and tedious job. The area was planted with Flowering Meadow Mix which is formulated to provide a good display for the whole season. We are now seeing the benefits of the clearance work with the green receiving full sun for the bulk of the day as well as increased air movement across it. The green was one of the last to defrost but now is one of the first. Allowing light and air to our golf course is the only way to produce sustainable, environmentally-friendly fine turf……. and the Wildflower Area looks fantastic!
