Jon Stern is the Christmas No.1
40 players enjoyed a beautiful winter day, recent rains have saturated the ground and there are some areas off the fairways to be avoided, otherwise, all greens and tees in play.

Mark Earley went into extra holes again, 6th match this year, in a bid to hold on to top spot against Jonathon Stern.  Unfortunately, it was 6th time unlucky as Jonathon Stern snatch top spot and the Christmas No.1, but It’s not all doom and gloom as Mark still has the joint lead in the League for the Ormiston Trophy with Alan Ratcliffe,  no player has ever led at Christmas and won the trophy.  Only 6 points separate the top 8 players.

Ian Pagan got back on track with a win against Homi Falak in a very close match, Homi’s golfing hero Angel Caberra would have been proud of his man, as Homi smashed at least 4 drives over 330yrds, but his big hitting was undone by a suspect short game, in fact, it is rumoured that Homi looks like he’s putting with an electric eel at times and that Stevie Wonder could read the greens better!

It wasn’t a good day for the challengers as only 6 players won in 20 matches played.

Simon Burton moved into 2nd spot and can challenge Jonathon Stern next week. Tony Breslin (6), Marcus Opoku (9)& Mark Budd (11)are all well placed for a challenge at the top.

There was only 4 2’s sharing £190
