Royal Troon vs. Glasgow Golf Club
Wednesday, 1st May 2024
This year’s match vs. Troon was away and the team were all looking forward to seeing the course as it will be played in the forthcoming Open.

After an excellent lunch and a few drinks the match commenced. The sun shone the entire day and with our Club Captain Peter McEachran leading out, we hoped for a close match.

Alas the course proved too difficult for many of us and we were beaten 5-1 with only Neil Moreland and Gregor Campbell bringing back a point.

Rarely has a team been beaten and still returned smiling after a day’s golf! The sportsmanship and company of the opposition contributed to this, with advice on the best shot to play and a mini history of Royal Troon made it a day to remember, including such facts as the course featuring both the longest and shortest holes on the Open circuit!

With many of us coming to Marshall at the Open, it will be a special tournament with us covering the prestigious 18th.

Good luck to all the competitors - let us hope they can get out of the bunkers!
