AGM Reports & Presentations

Attached with today's latest news email are copies of the Chairman's Report, Captain's Report, Incoming Captain's Speech, Finance Directors Presentation and the Drainage Update Presentation, that were delivered at the AGM last week.

President's Note

As your president I would like to congratulate all our staff on the work they have put into bringing the our club and course back into full working order after all the traumas of the past few months. Their dedication to the well being of our Club is inspirational and has shown it at its best over the past week.

We started the week with the very well attended Ladies AGM on Monday followed by a brilliant day of golf and delicious lunch as our new Ladies Captain, Pat Ashman, took up the reins from the outgoing captain Chris Tuke.

Wednesday saw another very well attended AGM and the election of our new Captain, Mike Oates, who follows in the footsteps of Stanley Riseborough. On Sunday we were treated to a full English after which Mike, attended by referees and supporters in full Everton/ Liverpool strip, had his “drive-in” where, with the aid of a translator, we heard about his passions in life. The shot-gun start enabled many members to play on a course which has recovered amazingly well -especially the greens. This was followed by a delicious lunch, speeches and prize giving. What a wonderful day and how lucky we are to have such a wealth of brilliant members who are willing to give their time and effort into position of captain.

Thank you so much Chris and Stanley for all you did during your year as Captains. You both have a great sense of humour which was always apparent regardless of the wretched weather you experienced toward the end of your year. I really appreciate the way you have looked after me and I was touched by the curtsies/bows you afforded me whenever we met - I don’t think you had tongue in cheek!!

Wishing you all a happy, successful and dry year of golf.

Janet Carter
Club President

Men's Invitation - Saturday 25th May

The Men's Invitation is fast approaching, which this year is being played on Saturday 25th May. This is your opportunity to invite a guest to the club for the day, to enjoy breakfast, the competition and a 2 course meal after golf. The cost of entry is £75 per pair. You can enter via the Club V1 members app, and you can select your starting hole and playing partners at the time of entry. If you would like to play, please enter asap.

Carvery Dates

Please note an error in yesterday's latest news email. I informed members that there would be a carvery on Sunday 5th May, please note there won't be a carvery on this date. The upcoming carvery's are this Sunday 28th April, and then the next one is Sunday 26th May. Please speak to the bar staff if you would like to book a table.

Recycling Bins - Golf Course

Please note that we now have separate general waste and recycling bins at 3 different points around the golf course. They are at the Halfway Hut, the 8th tee and the 11th tee. Please help us to help the environment by splitting your waste and using the correct bins.

Temporary Local Rule - Water Damaged Areas

Please note we have a temporary local rule in place for relief from water damaged areas. There are too many areas for us to white line and mark areas as GUR, so we have this blanket temporary local rule in place. Please check with your playing partners before taking relief.

Team Results

I'm pleased to report that both the Men's Scratch Team and Cyril Blake team secured 1st round wins over the last few days. The Scratch Team won 7-5 away at Cowdray Park on Saturday (after being 4-0 up at lunch!), and the Cyril Blake team won 3.5 - 1.5 yesterday at home to Cooden Beach.

The Scratch Team will be playing at home in the 2nd round against Chartham Park. This match will be taking place on Saturday 18th May.

The Cyril Blake Team will also be playing at home in the 2nd round against Highwoods. This match will be taking place on Monday 20th May.

The County Handicap Team received a bye through to the 2nd round, where they have been drawn at home against Hill Barn. This match will also be taking place on Saturday 18th May.
