December 2023 Captains Report
We had a fantastic night for the Annual Prize Presentation evening on 25th November. A full house came together to celebrate those that were successful throughout the year and thanks to everyone who stayed behind to celebrate.

As the poor weather continues to restrict our access to the course, we can at least look forward to a couple of upcoming social events.

Christmas Motown and Northern Soul Disco 9th December. Food will be available, last orders 8pm. £5 per person entry. Please let Sandra know if you are attending, we have advanced notice that 60 or so of you have indicated you are coming which is fantastic. Hughie has prepared a three course menu for you which is available at £20 per head if you are interested, comprising;
Starter; Mushroom soup, Pate, Prawn cocktail
Main; Chicken Chasseur, Steak, Cod Morney
Dessert; Choose on night from selection (includes cheese option)

Annual Dinner Dance at The Moat House, Acton Trussell on 20th January 2024, £40 per person, rooms are available to stay over at a discount rate through my name at the venue, (six have already been reserved). Can we please have names of those interested to Sandra urgently to gauge support, (including required numbers of people on a table). This is an expensive night to pre-book, so I would like some indication of interest. An excellent menu, which has something for everyone, is available and is posted in several places around the clubhouse and it has also been issued under cover of emails and on the Club V1 dashboard. All monies (cash only please) and menu choices to be made available by 5th January 2024 at latest please as I have to make payment to The Moat House prior to the event on the 6th January 2024. Bedrooms are payable upon booking in on the day. Remember the invite is to Friends and Family of members as well.
Please also take a look at the Latest Club News tab on the Dashboard, this is regularly updated with events, all news is linked across the club Facebook page, Instagram page and website.

The ‘Red Room’ is now nearing completion ready for the imminent occupation by The Golf Academy, hopefully offering an ‘Opening Sale’ just in time for Christmas needs. TGA relocating will leave their current building vacant for the storage of buggies and trolleys, for a rental. We already have a waiting list, if you are interested, please contact the office who will give you further details.

With the continued poor weather and freezing conditions, the Golf Course remains saturated and frozen when temperatures drop, if the course is open, please follow the strict guidance given out daily on Club V1. Particularly, please keep buggies and trolleys away from the green fronts, carry bags if at all possible.

The Course Manager Interview process has now been completed and the position has been offered to Rob Lawley, currently Head Greenkeeper at Atherstone Golf Club, who has accepted. Rob lives locally and is looking forward to the challenge ahead. After a very detailed process, we believe he is the ideal person to come on board, He starts his role in the New Year, please give him and his green staff your full support.

If I am not able to catch up with you over the next couple of weeks, I hope that this Festive Period brings you all Health, Happiness and a return to decent weather.
