Update to OOB areas - 7th & 10th Holes
Please Read
Dear Members,

As we proceed into the autumn and winter months, and with winter rules applying from 1st October until 30th April, the cleared and reseeded areas to the left of the 7th fairway and to the right of the 10th fairway have been reassessed by the Club Council, in conjunction with the Club Professional and the Head Green Keeper.

The review concludes that the white stakes marking the internal OOB boundary will shortly be moved to the fringe of the cleared areas; this action will remove any uncertainty for shots that come to rest in these areas as such shots will be subject to rule 18.2 of the R&A Rules of Golf (OOB “stroke-and-distance relief by adding one penalty shot” - https://www.randa.org/en/rog/the-rules-of-golf/rule-18 ); furthermore, by protecting the areas from unnecessary traffic, the seeded areas are afforded the maximum opportunity to establish firm root and plant growth as we head from the dormant winter months into spring.

These areas will be reviewed again at the end of the winter rules period, with a view to managing the ground conditions and carrying out a first cut in mid- to late-spring. The aim is to establish long grasses in these cleared areas so that the course naturally establishes distinct areas of cultivated fairway, maintained semi-rough, and rough areas.
