Junior European Open Qualifiers
Eastbourne Downs hosts first Junior European Open
Eastbourne Downs Golf Course was honoured to have been chosen to host two of the qualifiers for the Junior European Open Tournament, the only qualifiers in Sussex. The Junior European Open, first staged in 1993 and now in its 31st year, is widely considered as the toughest test in junior golf across Europe

The competition is open to all junior golfers in the UK, Europe and beyond, for boys born after 1/1/2005 and girls born after 1/1/2004

Some 45 regional finals take place at venues throughout the year across the UK and Europe from March until October, with the champions week finals taking place in November in Spain, played over five rounds, and televised on Sky Sports Golf

The first of Sussex qualifier took place at the Eastbourne Downs at the start of May and it was fantastic to see so many juniors out enjoying the course and congratulations to the impressive winner, George Shakespeare, who qualified with a score of 70, 2 under par, along with Alfred Craker, Archie Shakespeare and Megan Dawson and best net, Darci Lewis-Bradbury

The club is now looking forward to the next qualifier due to be held at the Eastbourne Downs Golf Club on the 3rd Sept
